TeacherActive are proud to be working with a number of special needs schools across Manchester who are seeking compassionate, resilient, and experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to join their teams.

This role is ideal for someone who has previously worked in a UK SEND school and is confident supporting students with a range of needs including:

  • PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties)

  • SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties)

  • ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)

  • SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs)

  • Complex and medical needs

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing tailored 1:1 or small group support to pupils with complex learning needs

  • Assisting with personal care, feeding, and mobility as required

  • Using calm and effective strategies to de-escalate challenging behaviour

  • Promoting independence, communication, and emotional regulation

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience working in a UK SEND school (essential)

  • Knowledge of supporting students with PMLD, SLD, ASD, SEMH or complex needs

  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and following behaviour support plans

  • A caring, patient, and adaptable approach
