Senior Statistical Programmer Exciting role in cutting-edge research, working with some of the most distinguished pharma companies in the UK and internationally.

CRO Solutions is looking for a Senior Statistical Programmer to work within our growing multidisciplinary Biometrics team. The role can either be remote-based with occasional visits to our Salford Quays office or office-based.

CRO Solutions are reinventing the way we perform statistical analysis, how we track our studies, how we define our internal standards and how we create our datasets and outputs. The candidate must have strong SAS knowledge, 2 years Lead Statistical Programmer experience and a strong working knowledge of the CDISC standards. Working on Phase I / Early Phase trials and experience with R programming are desirable but not essential. Ideally candidates with Mathematics / Computer Science degrees are encouraged to apply, but candidates with suitable experience are considered. The role involves defining our internal standards, leading the programming elements of a study, liaising with the Statistics group, and shaping the Statistical Programming department. Later opportunities could include mentoring, cross functional process development, standard macro development.

The Role:

  • Develop and Implement Standards: Adapt and embed CDISC standards into our internal processes to ensure consistency and compliance in all projects.
  • Team Management and Mentorship: Lead and manage a team of support programmers on our internal projects. Act as a mentor to junior statistical programmers, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Lead Programming Activities: Serve as the lead programmer for all programming activities on our internal projects. This includes reviewing timelines, budgets, and resources, identifying risks, and ensuring adequate resource allocation throughout the study lifecycle. Independently develop, review, and validate all statistical programs, datasets, and reports.
  • Quality and Timeliness: Ensure the delivery of high-quality outputs within prescribed timelines, meeting, or exceeding customer satisfaction standards.
  • Leadership in Meetings: Lead and contribute to team meetings, including departmental meetings and both internal and external project meetings, ensuring clear communication and alignment across all stakeholders.

Essential Skills:

  • SAS Expertise: Strong knowledge of SAS programming for data analysis and reporting.
  • Leadership Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Lead Statistical Programmer role.
  • CDISC Standards: Solid working knowledge of CDISC standards (SDTM, ADaM) and their implementation.
  • Educational Background: Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Internal Standards Development: Ability to define and develop internal programming standards and processes.
  • Project Leadership: Experience in leading the programming aspects of clinical studies, including timeline and resource management.
  • Collaboration: Strong ability to liaise with the Statistics group and other departments to ensure project alignment and success.

Desirable Skills:

  • Early Phase Trials: Experience with Phase I / Early Phase clinical trials.
  • R Programming: Proficiency or familiarity with R programming.
  • Macro Development: Experience in developing standard macros to improve efficiency.
  • Mentoring: Willingness to mentor junior programmers and contribute to their professional development.
  • Cross-Functional Development: Involvement in cross-functional process development initiatives.
