As the Assistant Restaurant Manager, you will support the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily operations to ensure exceptional guest service, efficient workflow, and a profitable, well-run establishment. This role involves supervising the team, maintaining quality standards, handling administrative tasks, and helping create a positive dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Service:

oAssist in managing daily restaurant (and café) operations, including opening and closing procedures

oEnsure consistent delivery of high-quality food, beverage, and service standards

oMonitor dining areas to ensure guest satisfaction and resolve issues promptly

oMaintain cleanliness, safety, and sanitation compliance throughout the restaurant (and café)

People Management:

oSupport hiring, training, and onboarding of new team members

oCreate and manage employee schedules to ensure proper coverage

oSupervise and motivate employees to achieve performance and service goals

oConduct coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective actions when necessary

Guest Experience:

oGreet and interact with guests to build positive relationships

oHandle guest complaints and concerns professionally

oEnsure service recovery procedures are followed effectively

Financial & Administrative Duties:

oAssist with inventory management, ordering, and stock control

oMonitor labour, food, and operating costs to support profitability

oHelp track sales, prepare reports, and support budgeting processes

Compliance & Safety:

oEnforce health, safety, and food handling regulations

oEnsure compliance with company policies

oOversee equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs when needed

Competencies and Skills:

  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on creating a positive experience
  • A friendly, approachable demeanour and the ability to handle complaints or difficult situations gracefully
  • Time management and attention to detail are essential
  • Ability to think quickly and find solutions to unexpected challenges
  • Basic understanding of restaurant financials and POS systems
  • The ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of employees while fostering a positive work environment
  • Ensuring food quality and cleanliness standards are always met
  • Basic knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
