Role Purpose
- Work as part of a skilled team to build and fabricate machinery, tooling, and equipment to required specifications and standards.
- Meet production deadlines and performance targets.
- Identify and resolve issues, particularly on non-standard equipment.
- Carry out testing to ensure machinery and equipment are safe, functional, and compliant.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and fabricate standard and bespoke machinery, tooling, and equipment to a high standard. Ensure all work meets specification requirements and agreed deadlines.
- Conduct thorough testing and inspection to confirm equipment is safe and fully operational.
- Complete all documentation accurately, ensuring all test data is correctly recorded.
- Manage orders: review and print work orders, source parts, chase delays, and schedule workloads to meet customer delivery dates.
- Record parts usage and labour time accurately within the MRP system. Provide feedback to the design team on engineering solutions and build issues.
- Offer technical support to customers over the phone to assist in troubleshooting.
- Assist with machinery repairs and servicing both on-site and off-site.
- Keep the working environment clean, organised, and safe.
- Follow all health and safety procedures and ensure appropriate PPE is worn at all times.

- High level of competence in building equipment to precise customer requirements.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Knowledge
- Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above, including Maths, English, and Science.
- Level 3 BTEC in Engineering or two A-Levels (or equivalent) in technology-related subjects (desirable).
- Practical hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, or fabrication work.
- Theoretical understanding of mechanical, electrical, fabrication, or general engineering principles.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment build, commissioning, and testing workflows. Up-to-date awareness of relevant legislation and standards.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong manual handling skills.
- Ability to interpret information and technical data for engineering tasks.
- Accurate completion of paperwork and confident use of document management systems.
- Good computer literacy, including engineering-related software.
- Able to work under pressure and around noisy machinery.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision assembly skills. Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and maintain focus during repetitive tasks.
