A wonderful Secondary school in Newcastle are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. You’ll be supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as other learning difficulties.

About the Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support students  on a 1:1 and small group basis.
  • Implement personalised learning strategies for student that may be distant and hard to engage 
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to create an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage independence, build confidence, and manage behaviour in a positive and supportive way.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children with SEN, particularly ASD. We welcome applicants from outside of education with transferrable skills such as residential childcare workers or carers.
  • Approaches challenges with patience, understanding, and resilience.
  • Is enthusiastic and proactive in helping young learners succeed.
  • Can build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Holds a valid DBS check (or is happy to obtain one).
