Primary Purpose of the Role
As a Logistics Coordinator, you will provide vital administrative and operational support to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant transport of goods. Working closely with commercial, operations, and transport teams, you will play a central role in ensuring customer expectations are met with precision and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate closely with commercial and operations teams to schedule transport for order fulfilment.
- Plan and manage daily vehicle movements using internal fleets and external hauliers.
- Raise purchase orders for external hauliers and ensure timely booking of transport.
- Carry out final checks on vehicles before dispatch, with dual sign-off to maintain accuracy and accountability.
- Communicate delivery times to the sales team and confirm logistics details with customers.
- Optimise delivery schedules by considering geography, mileage, load requirements, and cost-effectiveness.
- Maximise vehicle loading efficiency and manage structured multi-drop routes.
- Maintain up-to-date records including transport calendars, loading sheets, and goods in/out logs.
- Ensure the right goods are loaded onto the correct vehicles, minimising errors and improving accuracy.
- Proactively manage and communicate any delays or delivery issues to relevant stakeholders.
- Identify and coordinate backload opportunities to boost efficiency and reduce costs.
- Complete all month-end reporting and logistics-related processes accurately and on time.
- Maintain full compliance with Health & Safety, environmental, and company procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a logistics, transport coordination, or supply chain role.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Competence with logistics planning tools, Excel, and other relevant systems.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive problem-solver with a hands-on approach.
- Full UK driving licence and own vehicle due to site location.
