The Role
As a Civils Operative, you will support a wide range of site-based activities, including excavation, pipe laying, manhole construction, and general site duties. Working under the guidance of a CivilsSupervisor, you will be part of a dedicated team delivering critical projects to the highest standards. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn and progress within the water and utilities industry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sites, ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are available.

• Carry out excavation, trenching, pipe laying, and manhole construction.

• Backfill and compact ground to stabilise works.

• Support safe use of plant, tools, and machinery, reporting issues promptly.

• Follow all health and safety procedures, attending briefings and toolbox talks.

• Work closely with supervisors and team members to deliver projects safely and on time.

• Assist in emergency works, such as sewer bursts or leaks.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience in civils, utilities, or groundworks advantageous but not essential.

• Knowledge of using hand tools, power tools, and small plant equipment.

• Strong focus on health and safety with a proactive approach.

• Reliable, hardworking, and able to follow instructions.

• Willingness to work in challenging outdoor and confined space conditions.

• CSCS card and confined spaces training desirable (training can be provided).
