We are seeking a Responsible Financial Officer for a local Council we are currently working with to join their team. This pivotal role involves managing all financial functions for our client. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with financial regulations, manage financial risks, and provide strategic financial advice to the council.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Carry out all statutory financial functions, ensuring compliance with the company's Financial Regulations.
  • Provide timely financial information and advice to the company
  • Manage annual financial risk assessments and develop financial mechanisms in conjunction with the Town Clerk.
  • Record all financial transactions, income, and expenditure, and maintain accurate records of assets and liabilities.
  • Produce year-end accounts and manage the internal audit process.
  • Monitor and reconcile bank accounts and manage the Council's cash flow.
  • Coordinate the production of the Council's annual budget and Precept calculation.
  • Undertake financial tasks, interpret financial information, and advise on financial regulations and risk management.
  • Ensure timely payment and receipt of invoices and manage payroll and pension submissions.
  • Arrange utility contracts and source insurance for Council properties.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Financial Qualifications – AAT Level 3 minimum.
  • Strong experience in financial management, preferably within a public sector or similar environment.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to make sound business decisions.
  • Proficient in managing multiple financial tasks and producing detailed financial reports.
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing, with the ability to present financial information clearly.
  • Initiative, creativity, and the ability to think conceptually and strategically.
