Are you an experienced Production Operative or looking to start a career in manufacturing? We're seeking a motivated and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a Production Operative - at DS Smith Packaging in Blunham.
You will be responsible for the safe operation of movement of materials ensuring you meet productivity and performance targets, which include quality, waste, and customer service. In addition, you will ensure that maintenance and cleaning tasks are carried out in line with the planned maintenance schedule. You will also be required to support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, as and when they arise.
About the Role:
- Role: Production Operative - Corrugator Team Member (Pitman Shift)
- Location: DS Smith Packaging, South Mills, The Ridgeway, Blunham, Bedford MK44 3PH
- Rate: £15.46 per hour (paid breaks)
- Overtime: Available for 42+ hours (1.5x Mon-Sat, 2x Sundays)
- Contract: Temporary to Permanent (initially 3 months)
- Shift Pattern: Pitman Shift, 12-hour shifts (days and nights) from 6:00 AM/PM to 6:00 PM/AM
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating machinery safely and efficiently
- Meeting productivity and performance targets
- Maintaining consistent quality standards
- Performing scheduled maintenance and cleaning tasks
- Adhering to all UK Health and Safety legislation
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives
Essential Requirements:
- Must have an in date B1 FLT licence
- Counterbalance Licence
- Prior experience in a production or manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of UK Health and Safety legislation
- A safety-focused, positive, and enthusiastic attitude
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- A team player, quality-conscious, and adaptable to multi-skilled work
