We are seeking a commercially aware, hands on Assistant Accountant to contribute to the financial planning and strategic growth of a well established and successful SME in Scunthorpe.

Description
- Oversee and manage the company's financial operations.
- Prepare and present financial reports.
- Develop and maintain budgets.
- Ensure compliance with financial laws and guidelines.
- Collaborate with other departments to improve financial performance.
- Identify potential areas for cost reductions.
- Ensure all financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation.
- Support the financial decision-making process within the company.Maintain and process purchase ledger and sales ledger transactions
- Perform effective credit control, including monitoring outstanding accounts and following up on payments
- Assist with the preparation of management accounts and reporting
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Reconcile supplier statements and investigate any discrepancies
- Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate stock control and inventory costing
- Utilise ERP systems to manage financial data and reporting
- Use Microsoft Excel extensively for data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting
Profile
- Proven experience in purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control, and assisting with management accounts
- Strong knowledge of month-end accounting processes
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Sage, SAP, NetSuite, or similar)
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data analysis)
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience in stock control or working with inventory systems is desirable
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- AAT qualified or working towards a relevant finance/accounting qualification, CIMA, ACCA (preferred but not essential)
