Contract: Permanent / Temp to perm

We are recruiting on behalf of a top-tier Civil Engineering and Groundworks contractor, working closely with a national housebuilder on a significant phase of a strategic development.

This phase involves the creation of a new village featuring over 590 residential units and is defined by its complex blue and green infrastructure, including the construction of a new, dedicated lake and extensive flood mitigation measures.

We require an experienced Civil Infrastructure Site Manager to manage the technical, heavy civils packages on this high-volume site.

Key Responsibilities

As the leading supervisor for the infrastructure phase, your responsibilities will focus on the technical civils work required to make the large-scale housing estate functional and sustainable:

  • Drainage Systems (SuDS): Oversee the entire foul and surface water drainage network installation, with particular emphasis on implementing Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), including the formation of water attenuation features and connections to the new lake/water channels.
  • Earthworks & Leveling: Direct and manage large-scale bulk earthworks and soil movement across the wide, low-lying site to establish the correct formation levels for roads and foundations.
  • Utility & Service Installation: Manage the installation of all multi-utility services (gas, water, electric, fibre), including supervising civils work for the on-site substation and pump station facilities.
  • Highway Construction: Supervise the construction of internal estate roads, junctions, and footpaths, ensuring compliance with local authority adoption standards (e.g., Section 38/278 agreements).
  • Quality & Safety: Maintain exceptional standards of health, safety, and quality across all groundworks packages, providing clear supervision to site gangs and subcontractors.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience (4+ years) managing complex civil engineering packages on large greenfield or strategic residential sites (250+ units).
  • Demonstrable expertise in bulk earthworks and the installation of large-diameter drainage systems and SuDS features.
  • Experience in utility coordination and overseeing specialist civils work (substations, pump stations).
  • Ability to manage multiple groundworks gangs simultaneously across a vast site area.
  • Essential Certifications:
    • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
    • CSCS Gold or Black Card
    • Excellent knowledge of environmental controls and planning conditions.
