As the Biomass Boiler Operator for this Lincolnshire based Wood Biomass business, you will be responsible for the safe & efficient operation & maintenance of the companies biomass boiler system, which uses organic matter (wood chips & wood pellets) to generate heat / produce energy (RHI). You will be responsible for monitoring the system, ensuring proper fuel supply & performing regular Boiler checks to maintain optimal performance & safety.

Ideally you will have experience in LTHW and steam systems including pumps, valves, hydraulics, controls & steam generating plant.

I would be a distinct advantage if you have completed a Boiler operation accreditation scheme (BOAS) qualification for steam operator level (but not essential).

Shifts: Monday to Friday, Days, 7.30am - 5.00 pm

Duties:

  • Operate and monitor plant equipment to ensure maximum safety, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Work in a Central Control Room, using desk top control system monitoring to maintain plant operations.
  • Assist in plant operations to meet environmental and contractual standards.
  • Act as an Authorised Person, supporting the Senior Authorised Person with safety and operational duties, including permit-to-work, lock-out/tag-out, and safe systems of work.
  • Ensure boiler, super heater etc are maintained peak performance.
  • Perform water quality testing and adjust chemical dosing for optimal plant operations.

Attributes:

  • Ideally with an NVQ Level 4 / ONC, HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Previous Boiler Operator experience in a power plant, energy-from-waste, or waste management environment with control room operations expertise is a must have attribute.
  • BOAS trained and accredited would be an advantage (but not a must)
  • WAMITAB recycling / waste sector qualifications would be a distinct advantage.
  • Flexible to cover other shifts when needed (back shift / night shift if needed)
