Job Title: Workshop and Trailer Mechanic (HGV Industry)
Location: Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire
Job Type: Full-Time
Shift Pattern: 4 On / 4 Off
Payment: 42k+ overtime

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Workshop and Trailer Mechanic to join our clients well-established team in Scunthorpe. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGV trailers and vehicles.
  • Diagnose and fix mechanical and electrical faults efficiently and accurately.
  • Perform pre-MOT inspections and ensure all work is DVSA compliant.
  • Work on braking systems, suspension, lighting, hydraulics, and other trailer components.
  • Keep accurate records of work completed, inspections, and repairs.
  • Use workshop tools and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment and follow health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members and management to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a trailer or HGV mechanical role (minimum 2 years preferred).
  • Relevant qualifications in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle and trailer systems.
  • Understanding of DVSA regulations and inspection standards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Full UK driving licence (HGV licence is advantageous but not essential).

Desirable Extras:

  • Welding/fabrication experience.
  • IRTEC accreditation.
  • HGV Class 1 or 2 licence.
