The Role
As a PLC programming expert, you will play a key role in the Control & Instrumentation (C&I) engineering team, delivering safe, high-quality control system and PLC modifications and upgrades. You’ll lead plant improvement projects, enhance existing systems, and implement the latest cyber-security measures to protect against threats. This role will challenge your technical, problem-solving, and communication skills, contributing directly to the delivery of flexible, renewable energy at an industrial size power station.
You will also develop into a subject matter expert in cyber-security improvements aligned with NIS regulations and IEC62443 standards.

Key Accountabilities
- Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards
- Promote safe culture and investigate incidents
- Deliver projects in line with HSE, security, engineering, and quality standards
- Support the development and implementation of engineering strategies
- Lead plant improvement initiatives to enhance security, reduce costs, and improve reliability
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners
- Manage contracts, budgets, and project documentation
- Lead engineering changes related to obsolescence and defect reduction
- Apply project management best practices and engineering standards
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
- HND or higher in Control & Instrumentation, Electrical/Electronic, or Software Engineering
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in PLC programming
- Knowledge of IEC61131 – PLC Programming Languages
- Experience in technical roles within C&I disciplines
- Strong leadership, team collaboration, and contractor management skills
- Experience managing OPEX and CAPEX budgets
Desirable:
- Experience with Schneider PLCs
- Knowledge of NIS regulations and IEC62443 (training will be provided)
- Familiarity with IEC61508 and IEC61511 safety systems
- Proficiency in IT systems (Excel, Word, Maximo WMS)
- Experience leading projects through full lifecycle
