Freelance Design Manager – New Build School Project
Location: Sevenoaks
Contract: Freelance 
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 6 months

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Design Manager to join our team for an exciting new build school project. The successful candidate will lead and coordinate the design process from early stages through to delivery, ensuring compliance with project requirements, budget, and programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the design process across all disciplines and stages of the project.

• Liaise closely with architects, consultants, contractors, and client representatives.

• Ensure design compliance with Department for Education (DfE) standards, guidance, and technical annexes.

• Review design information to maintain quality, cost, and programme objectives.

• Manage design risks and support design change management.

• Lead design meetings and produce progress reports for stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Design Manager on education or public sector projects.

• Strong knowledge of DfE specifications, BB103/BB100, and relevant technical guidance (advantageous).

• Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to manage multiple design packages and interface between disciplines.

• Background in architecture, engineering, or construction management preferred.

Additional Information

The work will be on a 6 month bases with opportunity to remain with the company for future works
