This is a rare opportunity to become part of our permanent team.
Situated within the beautiful grounds of Great Comp Garden, this is a well-established business which is in a Grade II * listed building. We are seeking a passionate and motivated Assistant Manager to work closely with the Tearoom Manager, bring fresh new ideas to our menu offering and help lead our kitchen and service team.

The Role

This is a seasonal position that offers stability, consistency, and an excellent worklife balance, with daytime hours only, in a supportive and friendly working environment.

• MarchOctober: minimum 35 hours per week
• NovemberFebruary: minimum 21 hours per week
• Pay: £14£15 per hour, depending on experience

You will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the tearoom, working alongside the Manager to create a positive, efficient, and welcoming workplace. The role offers the opportunity to develop managerial skills, contribute ideas, and be actively involved in maintaining high standards of food and service within a close-knit team.

About You

We are looking for someone who brings flare, initiative, and genuine passion, particularly for food, cooking, and baking.

You will ideally:

• Have experience in the hospitality industry, with time spent working in a kitchen environment
• Have a passion for food with a strong interest and knowledge in baking and the skills and enthusiasm for producing high quality homemade food.
• Show initiative and a proactive approach to work
• Be empathetic, positive, and team-focused
• Have the drive to work collaboratively with the Tearoom Manager to maintain high standards and a supportive working atmosphere
• Be keen to learn more about the managerial side of hospitality, or bring existing supervisory experience to help develop the role further
• Have food hygiene level 2 certificate and knowledge of allergen
• Must have own form of transport or be able to travel to work as we are in a remote location
