About the Role

Our client is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Ecologist to join their growing team in Shaftesbury. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality ecological services across a range of exciting projects - from biodiversity assessments and habitat management plans to protected species surveys and ecological impact assessments.

As a Senior Ecologist, you'll lead fieldwork, manage projects, support junior colleagues, and contribute to the continued success and development of the ecology team. You'll have the opportunity to work autonomously, while also collaborating with multidisciplinary professionals in an environment that values balance, flexibility, and innovation.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage ecological surveys and assessments.

  • Prepare and review ecological reports, EIAs, and mitigation strategies.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

  • Liaise with clients, planners, and regulatory bodies.

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard.



About You

  • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in ecological consultancy, ideally at a senior level.

  • Strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy.

  • Protected species licences desirable (e.g. bats, GCN).

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
