About the role:

We're seeking a passionate and proactive Health & Safety Business Partner to play a key role in shaping and delivering our H&S strategy across our Logistics and Retail operations.

In this vital position, you'll work closely with our Health & Safety Manager to ensure compliance, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement across our sites—helping to keep our people safe and our business fully compliant.

We're looking for someone with extensive experience in logistics and warehousing environments, who can confidently support diverse, fast-paced national teams. Your ability to adapt, influence, and collaborate will be critical to success in this role.

  • Location: Nationwide (Travel Required)
  • Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday (37.5 hours per week)

What can you expect to be doing:

Health & Safety & Compliance

  • Support the rollout of our H&S strategy across all AO sites.
  • Carry out site reviews and ensure compliance with policies and legislation.
  • Maintain high safety standards in line with industry best practice.

Reporting & Risk

  • Create and maintain performance reports and dashboards using Excel and Power BI.
  •  Spot trends, highlight risks, and suggest practical improvements.
  • Present insights and performance updates to senior leadership.

Collaboration & Communication

  •  Support the launch of internal H&S communications.
  • Work closely with operational teams to embed a strong safety culture.
  • Clearly communicate risks and action plans across departments.

Training & Standards

  • Deliver on-site safety training to ensure compliance and understanding.
  • Support AO in maintaining its RoSPA Gold award.
  • Help drive achievement of safety standards and accreditations.

Projects & Process Improvement

  • Contribute to H&S initiatives, projects, and new site launches.
  • Review processes through thematic and risk-based assessments.
  • Work with departments to continuously improve safety procedures.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Advise teams on legislative changes and their impact.
  • Assist in setting and tracking safety targets across the business.
  • Represent H&S in cross-functional projects and committees.

A Few Things About Our Ideal Health and Safety Business Partner:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 5 in Health & Safety (or working towards).
  • IOSH membership (Working towards CMIOSH preferred).
  • Environmental management qualification (or working towards).
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Analytical mindset with experience using Excel and Power BI.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide, including some nights away.
  • Proven track record in Health & Safety, with a strong focus on warehousing and logistics operations.
