About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join the finance team at a multi-million-pound manufacturing organisation, based in Sheffield, on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role requires an immediate start or availability at very short notice, making it ideal for a UK-qualified accountant ready to step into a dynamic corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting

  • Schedule, coordinate, and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
  • Liaise with the FSSC on centralised sub-ledger processes.
  • Prepare and review general ledger reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Analyse financial results against expectations, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Provide technical accounting support to finance teams, senior management, and HQ.
  • Mentor and develop team members in the accounting department.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting, tax, and company law changes.
  • Act as the primary contact for external auditors, tax consultants, and authorities.
  • Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts for UK entities.

Treasury

  • Manage short-term and long-term liquidity planning, optimising financial processes.
  • Oversee operational banking, coordinating with corporate bankers, FSSC, and Group Treasury.
  • Report liquidity positions to senior management and process intercompany funding and hedging requirements.
  • Mentor and develop team members in the treasury department.

Tax

  • Manage corporation tax, deferred tax, VAT, and other applicable tax filings.
  • Act as the main contact for HMRC, external tax consultants, auditors, and corporate tax teams.
  • Investigate and resolve tax-related issues while identifying potential tax risks or opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • UK-qualified accountant (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Several years of professional experience in a corporate finance function or practice.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
