Head of Tax

The Role

Gravitate are an Award Winning Digital Chartered Accountants with a focus on start-ups, scale-ups and growing businesses.

The firm have experienced a sustained and exceptional period of growth over the past few years, resulting in the becoming one of the region’s most dynamic accountancy practices.

To enable the business to achieve their on-going success, they see this appointment as a pivotal role within the firm’s senior management team.

As such the business are ideally looking for an ambitious individual who can both match the firms culture, growth and expansion strategy and to lead the firms tax offering.

The sucessful candidate has to be commercial, have a growth mindset in their approach and be able to sell themselves and the tax services utilising the Gravitate brand. The successful applicant would be part of the director board (i.e. decision makers)

Duties and Responsibilities

The role as Head of Tax will be responsible for a diverse portfolio of OMB clients, key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and oversee corporate tax advice
  • Lead company de-mergers
  • Lead company purchase of own shares transactions
  • Lead share for share exchange transactions
  • Lead in creation of Holdco’s/Newco’so
  • Tax advice on MBO’s, MBI’s, acquisitions and business sales
  • Clearance letters
  • Tax due diligence work
  • Tax warranty and covenant reviews
  • Lead and oversee incentive schemes e.g. EMI’s, share options, growth shares
  • Manage a small portfolio of tax compliance work (for large clients only)
  • Assist the internal team with corporate and personal tax matters (but not lead or manage the client)
  • Assist the internal team with complex Corporation tax computations and capital allowance queries (role as sense check only)

Skills and Qualities

The successful candidate will ideally be ACA/ACCA and CTA qualified with an advanced knowledge of corporate and personal tax, which will include incentive schemes and corporate restructuring advice (that will dovetail with CF advice).

Experience will have ideally been developed within a comparative firm or Top 50 accountancy practice.

The business are looking to appoint an individual who has the ability to assist in driving this already successful firm forward and to play an integral part of leading the tax division and wider business matters.

They are looking for an ambitious individual who is looking for a Partnership/Director role, therefore encourage applications from Senior Managers or Directors who currently have limitations on progression within their current business or ambitious CTA qualified tax professionals who are looking for an opportunity of working with a dynamic, highly progressive accountancy firm.
