The Role
We’re looking for a Management Accountant who is not only technically skilled but also a proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, forward-thinking environment. This is a pivotal role within our finance team — perfect for someone who enjoys taking ownership, spotting opportunities for improvement, and driving change.
You’ll handle core month-end and reporting processes, but you’ll also play a hands-on role in shaping financial decision-making, implementing smarter ways of working, and helping us build a more digitally focused finance function.
Key responsibilities
- Taking ownership of month-end procedures
- Delivering variance analysis with insightful commentary
- Managing purchase and sales ledgers
- Handling bank and account reconciliations
- Overseeing the central contracts store
- Preparing VAT returns and liaising with HMRC
- Supporting audits as needed
- Leading cashflow forecasting and monitoring
Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience within finance (required)
Skills & Competencies
- Strong IT skills (Excel essential; Financial Force desirable)
- A reactive, proactive mindset — able to take initiative and adapt quickly
- Comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Able to build strong working relationships with staff at all levels
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication, analytical, and reporting skills
Qualifications
- QBE or recognised professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
