Elevation Recruitment Group are recruiting for a high-growth, deep tech start-up developing world-leading semiconductor business.
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Applications Engineer to join their pioneering team based in Sheffield.
As the Applications Engineer you will be:
- Supporting customers with technical queries related to advanced APD detector products
- Collaborating closely with Sales, Field Applications Engineers (FAEs), and Engineering to deliver expert product support
- Leading customer engagement during new product introductions and design-in activities
- Conducting lab-based experiments and product evaluations to support applications development
- Developing technical documentation including application notes, training materials, and reference designs
- Managing the delivery and support of evaluation kits and reference design boards
- Attending trade shows and visiting customers to provide hands-on technical support and demonstrations
- Acting as a technical expert across the companies product range and contributing to future product roadmap development
To be considered for the Applications Engineer role you will need:
- A degree (BSc/BEng/MSc/PhD) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Optoelectronics or Physics
- 5+ years’ experience in the Photonics, Semiconductor, or Data/Telecommunications sector
- Proven applications, evaluation or design engineering experience within detectors, optical components or communications systems
- A strong understanding of analogue and mixed-signal semiconductor products and optical sensing technologies
- Practical experience in optical receiver systems including APDs, photodiodes, laser range finding, LiDAR, or high-speed optical comms
- Familiarity with tools such as circuit simulation, data visualisation tools, and MS Office
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first mindset
- An organised, problem-solving approach and the ability to work across cross-functional teams
