Manual Lathe Machinist

Location: Sheffield
Salary: £37,000 per annum

On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for an experienced Manual Lathe Machinist to join a well-established engineering organisation based in Sheffield. This is a permanent position offering a competitive salary and long-term job security within a busy workshop environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating manual lathes to produce high-quality components to engineering drawings and tight tolerances.

• Set up and operate manual lathes

• Machine components from engineering drawings and specifications

• Work with a variety of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloys

• Maintain high standards of accuracy, quality, and finish

• Carry out basic machine maintenance and tooling changes

• Inspect finished components using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, gauges)

• Adhere to health, safety, and quality procedures

• Proven experience operating manual lathes

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

• Strong understanding of machining tolerances and finishes

• Experience working with a range of metals

• Confident using precision measuring equipment

• Time-served machinist or relevant engineering qualification preferred
