W Talent are exclusively representing a well-established manufacturing company based in Sheffield, who are now seeking to recruit a Health and Safety Advisor. This family-owned business operates manufacturing sites worldwide with its headquarters in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Due to an internal promotion, our client is looking for a days-based Health and Safety Advisor to support the Group Health and Safety Manager.

You do not need to be NEBOSH qualified to apply for this role. Candidates with experience in a manufacturing environment who are keen to take their first step into a health and safety position will be considered. Experience with compliance systems such as ISO 18001, 14001 or 45001 would be advantageous, though not essential.

Job Description

Based at the Sheffield manufacturing facility, the successful Health and Safety Advisor will support the Group Health and Safety Manager in ensuring the safety of all employees, while identifying opportunities for improvement across the site.

This is a dynamic, hands-on role with excellent scope to develop your health and safety expertise in a fast-paced and diverse manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed inspections to identify risks and recommend practical solutions.
  • Contribute to the ongoing review of site risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of robust health and safety procedures.
  • Carry out COSHH assessments to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Deliver safety inductions for new employees and contractors.
  • Support the delivery of health and safety training across the workforce.
  • Keep H&S noticeboards up to date and engaging.
  • Monitor and analyse safety data to identify trends and track performance.
  • Participate in problem-solving initiatives and projects to improve safety outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for H&S activities and reporting.
  • Attend health and safety meetings as required.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a manufacturing and/or warehousing environment.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
