Responsibilities and duties of the Generator Commissioning Engineer
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and manage generator installation and commissioning projects onsite.
- Perform generator pre-commissioning, final commissioning, and fault diagnostics.
- Install, replace, and upgrade generator control systems, including ATS and switchgear.
- Troubleshoot and repair diesel and gas generators efficiently.
- Conduct site surveys and inspections of mechanical and electrical generator equipment.
- Carry out protection relay and metering testing (G99 compliance).
- Perform site efficiency testing on gas generator plants.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Apprentice trained engineer in relevant engineering subject
- Minimum 3-5 years' hands-on experience in generator commissioning and control systems.
- Strong knowledge of diesel and gas generator operations and associated components
- Skilled in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Competent in G99 protection relay and secondary injection testing.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites.
Personal skills
- Proactive problem-solver with a hands-on approach.
- Strong communicator with the ability to work independently and in teams.
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and organisational skills.
