Job Summary Responsible for the shift engineering activities and performance. Front line management of shift engineering technicians on own shift. Responsible for delivering both proactive and reactive maintenance activities in line with site priorities as determined by the Shift Engineer in conjunction with the Shift Manager. This role has elements of engineering management and direct 'on-the-tools' engineering support. You will be highly motivated, with a 'can do' attitude towards your work, as well as having a degree of flexibility to help meet business needs and market demands. You will be a major exponent of Health and safety practices, with a strong focus towards work quality and plant standards. This role will contain an infrequent rotation onto days to support training, development and other business requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities * Carry out both reactive and proactive maintenance activities, working across all departments: Melt Shop, Precision Forging Department, Conditioning Department, Precision Machining Facility, and the Test House (Laboratory). This includes work on Vacuum Induction Melting Furnaces (VIM), Vacuum Arc Remelting Furnaces (VAR), Electroslag Remelting Furnaces (ESR), various gas fired furnaces, Rotary Forge, Peeling machines, various precision finishing machines and a variety of other plant and equipment. * Ensuring that scheduled planned maintenance and routine inspections are carried out effectively and on time. * Front line management of the shift engineering technicians ensuring adequate site engineering cover and shift capability (skills). * Making effective engineering decisions to prioritise activities, assess the safety and condition of plant and equipment, and diagnose engineering issues. * Coach and develop shift engineering technicians. * Understanding of electrical systems and be able to diagnose problems/plant faults constructively and accurately. * Understanding of mechanical systems and be able to diagnose problems/plant faults constructively and accurately. * Record daily activities and creation of work orders within a CMMS (Agility), as well as using the system to assist with any fault diagnosis. * Attend and contribute towards daily and weekly planned maintenance meetings/plant priority reviews. * Identify/specify and order engineering parts. * Ensure that all on-stock parts required are booked out correctly and recorded as necessary. * Work with specialist OEM service engineers where required. * Work to achieve Key Performance Indicators as set by the business. * Facilitate lean ways of working to minimise waste and maximise efficiency, ensuring departmental objectives are achieved. * Contribute towards the creation, improvement and delivery of Planned Maintenance activities. * To participate in training and upskilling activities to help maintain and improve your site and technical knowledge. * Undertake any other tasks, which are reasonable in relation to the skills, knowledge and experience. * Able to perform safety & quality risk assessments and work. * Permitting of engineering activities. * Management of sub-contractors. * Switching and isolation of HV and LV switchgear. * Adhere to standard safe practices and procedures, environmental and legislative requirements. *
PLEASE NOTE THE ROLE ALSO INVOLVES A BONUS OF UP TO 4,900 TO 5,500 PER ANNUM
