Sheffield City Council is seeking a Senior Officer Electrical to oversee the operational delivery and contract administration of electrical services within the Housing and Neighbourhoods Service. This role is pivotal in ensuring high standards of technical advice, quality assurance, and stakeholder engagement in line with the council's policies and the Housing+ initiative.
Day-to-day of the role:- Deliver and manage the contract administration service for electrical services including Gas Servicing, Electrical, Commercial & Community Heating, and Domestic Heating programmes.
- Implement, maintain, and monitor on-site quality assurance, defect inspection, and handover procedures.
- Issue site instructions, manage variations, and provide competent, sound technical advice.
- Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for delivering contract administration services, operational delivery of onsite heating improvement works, and an area-based tenant and contractor liaison function.
- Oversee and support the work of Investment Assistants & Business Support staff.
- Assist with the training of staff and ensure effective consultation and communication with tenants, contractors, elected members, and colleagues.
- Undertake the role of active client and delivery of contract administration within a partnership environment, including scheme preparation, testing, defect inspections, property handovers, and quality assurance processes.
- Undertake inspections and surveys, prepare technical and non-technical reports and designs, and make recommendations and remedial actions.
- Operate and contribute towards the improvement of IT systems.
- Relevant qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive experience in electrical services, contract administration, and quality assurance.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to oversee and support staff.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge of Construction Health and Safety, Construction, Design and Management Regulations, asbestos management/awareness, and building regulations.
- Proficiency in IT systems relevant to the role.
- Ability to work flexibly, including attending meetings outside normal working hours and working at any site in the city.
