Job Description: Service & Technical Engineer

Location: Barnsley, Sheffield, Leeds & Surrounding Areas
Salary: £38,000–£45,000 (DOE)

The Role

We’re seeking a skilled and adaptable Service & Technical Engineer to carry out maintenance, installation, and repair work across a wide range of plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems. This mobile role offers variety, independence, and the chance to work on diverse commercial sites under the guidance of a Service & Technical Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planned and reactive maintenance on plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and mechanical plant.

  • Installation and commissioning of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

  • Fault-finding, diagnostics, and implementing effective repairs.

  • Identifying efficiency and system improvement opportunities.

  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety and completing all required documentation.

  • Professional communication with clients and accurate reporting.

  • Regular travel to client sites.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical service work.

  • Relevant qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds, Mechanical/HVAC/Plumbing).

  • F-Gas certification (required for AC work).

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

  • Good understanding of commercial mechanical and building services systems.

  • Clear communication skills and a full UK driving licence.

Desirable Extras

  • Experience with specific manufacturers’ systems.

  • Knowledge of BMS operations.

  • Additional certifications (unvented hot water, confined spaces, etc.).
