Job Description: Service & Technical Engineer
Location: Barnsley, Sheffield, Leeds & Surrounding Areas
Salary: £38,000–£45,000 (DOE)
The Role
We’re seeking a skilled and adaptable Service & Technical Engineer to carry out maintenance, installation, and repair work across a wide range of plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems. This mobile role offers variety, independence, and the chance to work on diverse commercial sites under the guidance of a Service & Technical Manager.
Key Responsibilities

Planned and reactive maintenance on plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and mechanical plant.

Installation and commissioning of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

Fault-finding, diagnostics, and implementing effective repairs.

Identifying efficiency and system improvement opportunities.

Ensuring compliance with health & safety and completing all required documentation.

Professional communication with clients and accurate reporting.

Regular travel to client sites.
What You’ll Bring

Proven experience in plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical service work.

Relevant qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds, Mechanical/HVAC/Plumbing).

F-Gas certification (required for AC work).

Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

Good understanding of commercial mechanical and building services systems.

Clear communication skills and a full UK driving licence.
Desirable Extras

Experience with specific manufacturers’ systems.

Knowledge of BMS operations.

Additional certifications (unvented hot water, confined spaces, etc.).
