Commercial Finance Analyst

The Commercial Finance Analyst will provide insightful financial analysis and support to drive business performance, facilitate decision-making, and help maximise profitability. This role will work closely with the Finance team and commercial business leaders to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models, as well as provide actionable recommendations based on data-driven analysis. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver regular financial reporting, including variance analysis and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Analyse financial performance against budgets, forecasts, and historical trends to identify opportunities and risks
  • Develop and track financial models to assess the financial impact of business decisions
  • Work closely with commercial and operational teams to understand business performance and provide financial insight
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
  • Monitor performance against budget and forecast, highlighting areas of concern and suggesting corrective actions
  • Provide recommendations for optimising cost structures and improving profitability
  • Support the development and execution of financial strategies aligned with company goals and objectives
  • Evaluate and report on the financial impact of strategic initiatives, market conditions, and industry trends
  • Continuously look for ways to improve financial processes and increase the efficiency of financial reporting and analysis
  • Provide financial expertise on ad hoc analysis requests from senior management.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (desirable not essential)
  • Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent) is a plus
  • 2-4 years of experience in commercial finance, financial analysis, or related roles
  • Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Experience working in a fast-paced commercial environment is highly desirable
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling)
  • Strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills
