Job Title: Clinical Negligence - Legal SecretarySalary: £23,000 - £25,000Location: Sheffield, South YorkshireKey Responsibilities:

  • Providing comprehensive support to solicitors, partners, and fellow fee earners.
  • Managing legal matters throughout their lifecycle, from initial client instructions to final archiving, in accordance with firm and accounting procedures.
  • Preparing and organising case files and relevant documentation.
  • Communicating with clients, counsel, and other professionals as required.
  • Taking accurate and timely notes during conferences and meetings.
  • Coordinating with the Accounts team to handle disbursements and billing processes.
  • Compiling and managing electronic court bundles.
  • Scheduling and maintaining diaries, including setting up appointments and reminders.
  • Actively developing and maintaining legal knowledge and professional skills.
  • Supporting business development initiatives and firm-wide goals.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Professional and client-focused communication skills, both in person and over the phone.
  • Competent typing and administrative abilities.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Confident use of Windows, Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, and PDF software.

Experience Required:

  • Prior experience as a paralegal or in a similar client-facing legal role.

  • Excellent written English for drafting documents for clients, courts, and third parties.
  • Clear and effective spoken English for handling telephone enquiries.
