Elevation Engineering & Manufacturing’s Skilled Shop Floor Team have been exclusively retained to manage a recruitment campaign for our client, Orchid Orthopedic, based in the heart of Sheffield’s manufacturing community. Orchid Orthopedic Solutions is a worldwide leader in design and manufacturing for the orthopedic and medical device markets, including joint reconstruction, spine, trauma, sports medicine, extremities and dental. With 10 world-class facilities located around the globe, Orchid continues to provide others an opportunity to live longer, more active lives through their products and services.
Their Sheffield facility, based off the Sheffield Parkway, comprises a Forge, Foundry, and CNC Machining and Finishing processes. It employs approximately 300 people and focuses on joint reconstruction, in particular knee and hip joints.

Although experience in these areas would be an advantage, they are also looking for enthusiastic individuals from other industries who may have transferable skills relevant to the role.
They are looking for individuals with experience or a desire to work in the following role;
Despatch Operative
Working hours: Monday – Wednesday 6am-4pm, Thursday 6am-3.30pm (37.5h per week)
Hourly Rate: ÂŁ12.21ph
Overview of the role of a Despatch Operative:
- Coordinate with Release Inspectors to ensure parts are ready for packing.
- Arrange carrier pickups to meet delivery deadlines.
- Follow domestic/export packaging and shipping requirements.
- Ensure correct release documentation is included in consignments.
- Comply with air cargo security regulations.
- Manage stock and storage of packaging materials and consumables.
- Collate and archive release packages for traceability.
- Operate a forklift truck and follow release procedures.
Requirements for a Despatch Operative:
- Understanding of quality production techniques.
- Complete necessary production paperwork.
- Adhere to Health & Safety and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
- Support company quality standards.
- Reliable timekeeping and attendance.
