Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Bid Engineer to join our team and lead the preparation, coordination, and submission of tenders, PQQs, and commercial proposals. This role plays a critical part in securing new business by delivering technically sound and commercially competitive bids. Youll collaborate closely with Sales, Procurement, and Engineering teams to align bids with client requirements and business objectives while maintaining compliance with internal standards and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities for this Bid Engineer position:

  • Bid Management: Lead the end-to-end bid process, including managing technical queries, stakeholder communication, and submission timelines.

  • Tender Documentation: Prepare Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs), tender responses, and client proposals that are accurate, compliant, and tailored to specific project requirements.

  • Commercial Development: Produce costed commercial bids, incorporating technical, contractual, and pricing information, with a focus on profitability and client satisfaction.

  • Strategic Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to optimise proposals, identify cost-saving opportunities, and improve bid win rates.

  • Records & Reporting: Maintain thorough records of all bid submissions, timelines, contract variations, and communications.

  • Risk & Compliance: Identify and mitigate commercial, legal, and contractual risks; ensure all proposals adhere to company policies and H&S requirements.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure collaborative and successful bid outcomes.

  • Sales Support: Assist the Sales team with proposal development and new business acquisition strategies.

  • Continuous Improvement: Support the company in achieving operational excellence and ongoing quality improvements.

Qualifications & Experience needed for this Bid Engineer position:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering

  • Strong technical background in LV Electrical Switchgear

  • Experience working within project-based organisations

  • Proven track record in bid, tender, or proposals engineering

  • Excellent written English and communication skills

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to resolve problems efficiently
