Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant - Sheffield
Academics are looking to appoint a passionate and resilient Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to join a dedicated secondary setting in Sheffield. This exciting position is perfect for someone who thrives on making a difference and supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional, social, and learning needs.
The Role
As a Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant, you will:
- Provide tailored support to pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Work 1:1, with small groups, and within classrooms to deliver targeted interventions.
- Assist teachers with planning, preparation of resources, and behaviour management.
- Support both on-site and, when required, during safe and well visits or home learning.
- Contribute to safeguarding and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment for all learners.
Pay Rates
- 111 per day
- 555 per week (based on 5 days)
- 21,645 per year (term-time only)
Candidate Requirements
We are seeking a Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant who can demonstrate:
- Experience working with young people who have additional or behavioural needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting learners.
- A full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance (for occasional visits).
- GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
Desirable qualifications include Team Teach or behaviour management training, First Aid certification, and prior work in alternative education.

Additional Information
