HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter – Sheffield

Location: Sheffield
Salary:£45,(Apply online only) - £55,(Apply online only) per annum
Hours: 06:00–14:30 or 13:30–23:00
Job Type: Full-time | Permanent

We are looking for an experienced HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, or HGV Fitter to join a busy commercial vehicle workshop in Sheffield. This is a permanent position offering an excellent salary package, structured training, and genuine career development within a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities of an HGV Technician
Service, maintain, and repair HGVs to DVSA and manufacturer standards
Carry out diagnostics and fault-finding using the latest equipment
Conduct pre-MOT inspections and ensure full vehicle compliance
Repair and replace components including brakes, clutches, and transmissions
Keep accurate job cards and service records up to date
Work safely, following workshop health and safety procedures
Operate independently and contribute positively to the team

Skills and Qualifications for an HGV Technician

Essential
Level 3 NVQ, VCQ, or SVQ in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
Proven experience working in a busy HGV workshop environment
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
Knowledge of HGV systems including hydraulics and pneumatics

Desirable
HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence
Experience using electronic diagnostic systems
Flexible and proactive approach to work
