HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter – Sheffield
Location: Sheffield
Salary:£45,(Apply online only) - £55,(Apply online only) per annum
Hours: 06:00–14:30 or 13:30–23:00
Job Type: Full-time | Permanent
We are looking for an experienced HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, or HGV Fitter to join a busy commercial vehicle workshop in Sheffield. This is a permanent position offering an excellent salary package, structured training, and genuine career development within a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities of an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, or HGV Fitter:
- Service, maintain, and repair HGVs to DVSA and manufacturer standards
- Carry out diagnostics and fault-finding using the latest equipment
- Conduct pre-MOT inspections and ensure full vehicle compliance
- Repair and replace components including brakes, clutches, and transmissions
- Keep accurate job cards and service records up to date
- Work safely, following workshop health and safety procedures
- Operate independently and contribute positively to the team
Skills and Qualifications for an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, or HGV Fitter:
Essential
- Level 3 NVQ, VCQ, or SVQ in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Proven experience working in a busy HGV workshop environment as a HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, or HGV Fitter
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of HGV systems including hydraulics and pneumatics
Desirable
- HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence
- Experience using electronic diagnostic systems
- Flexible and proactive approach to work
