Would you value the chance to shadow a retiring expert and take ownership of a long-term engineering function?

If you're nodding yes, this could be your next career-defining move.

What You Need Before Applying
To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A strong background in mechanical engineering - ideally with experience working on LGV/HGV vehicles or cryogenic transport

  • A relevant technical qualification (minimum HNC, though a degree would be a real advantage)

  • The ability to understand engineering standards, technical documentation, and maintenance procedures

  • Confidence working with suppliers, workshops, and cross-functional internal teams

  • An interest in overseeing vehicle design and engineering projects from concept to delivery

What You'll Be Doing
This is a hands-on, technically focused engineering role within the liquid transport division of a major UK operator. • Managing new builds, refurbishments, and remount projects

  • Developing and maintaining engineering specifications

  • Liaising with manufacturers and supporting internal garages across the UK

  • Spending ~60% of your time with external suppliers (some international), and ~40% supporting internal workshops nationwide

  • Becoming the technical authority for engineering issues across a diverse fleet, working closely with safety, procurement, and QA teams

Why Apply?

  • You'll step into a succession role with 6 months to learn directly from the current specialist before retirement

  • You'll shape the future of one of the most specialised vehicle fleets in the UK

  • You'll work on meaningful, complex projects with long-term engineering value

  • Competitive salary (60-70K) and benefits package
