Locum Child Care Lawyer (Temporary Contract – 3 months)
Location: Town Hall based, with flexibility for remote working
Duration: August – October 2025 (initial 3 months, with possible extension)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Rate: £40-£50 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Child Care Lawyer to provide locum cover within a busy legal team. The role arises due to the departure of a team member, alongside current absences for maternity and sickness leave. You will play a key role in maintaining service delivery in this critical practice area.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of childcare matters, including care proceedings and related applications.
- Provide high-quality legal advice and representation in court.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the legal team to ensure continuity of service.
- Contribute to the effective handling of statutory and legislative responsibilities in childcare law.
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with relevant practising certificate.
- Demonstrable experience in childcare law, including advocacy.
- Strong case management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure with competing priorities.
