Our client is seeking a temporary Childcare Lawyer to join their Legal Services team. This role is crucial due to the departure of a team member, as well as current staff shortages due to sickness and maternity leave. The successful candidate will provide essential litigation and advocacy services on behalf of the City Council.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide advice and representation on all aspects of childcare law.
  • Conduct legal proceedings before courts and tribunals.
  • Offer advocacy, advice, and legal drafting as required.
  • Represent and advise committees, boards, meetings, members, officers, and external bodies.
  • Prepare and deliver training to council personnel.
  • Participate in office hours and out-of-hours duty advice rotas.
  • Provide legal advice to support statutory and strategic functions.
  • Collaborate with Legal Services management to improve client relationships.
  • Interpret and apply legislation and policies.
  • Continuously develop the quality of legal services.
  • Support and mentor colleagues to achieve best practice.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and comply with regulatory and council standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified to practice as a lawyer within the UK.
  • Extensive experience in childcare law.
  • Strong advocacy and legal drafting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
