Responsibilities and duties of the Operations Manager role



Reporting to the Site Manager, you will:


  • Oversee the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the biomass-fired combined heat and power plant.

  • Lead and manage the operations team to achieve generation and availability targets.

  • Ensure all plant processes, including turbine and boiler systems, are operated within environmental and safety standards.

  • Maintain accurate operational logs and performance records.

  • Support and implement the site's maintenance strategy, including both planned and reactive activities.

  • Manage compliance with statutory regulations such as LOLER and PUWER.

  • Oversee environmental reporting, emission monitoring and permit compliance.

  • Promote and enforce safe systems of work, risk assessments and operational procedures.

  • Manage the identification and procurement of essential spares and consumables.


Professional qualifications



We are looking for someone with the following:


  • Qualified to at least ONC level or equivalent in an engineering discipline.

  • Strong understanding of plant operations, process flow and maintenance systems.

  • Proven experience in a power generation, waste incineration, or chemical processing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop small teams in a technical setting.

  • Excellent knowledge of safety systems, operational standards and environmental compliance.

  • Capable of conducting audits, inspections and investigations to ensure continuous improvement.
