Mechanical Design Engineer

£45,000 - £50,000 base salary + flexible hours, 25 days annual leave
The Company
Our client designs specialised machinery for the metal processing industry. With a global customer base, they are one of few suppliers in a niche industry and have seen an increase in contracts over the last 3 years. They work on largescale projects worth £multi-million.
They are family-owned and have been operating for over 30 years, with a culture that encourages discussion and insights from the team to ensure they are maintaining best practices.
They are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer with immediate effect.
The Role
You’ll be in a close-knit Design team with a mentor who has almost two decades in the industry. Working from Autodesk Inventor, you will be responsible in ensuring stability and consistency in designs and modifications. This position offers the opportunity for a varied day, with opportunities to support on projects directly with customers. You will:
- Produce 3D CAD models using Autodesk Inventor & Vault
- Design process equipment, structural steelwork, and machined components
- Collaborate on projects from design through to installation
- Work across a variety of projects from new concept design to modifications
- Deal with plant layouts, ensuring equipment can fit, function, and be safely maintained
- Conduct calculations and consult external specialists where appropriate
- Collaborate with contractors on larger projects
The Candidate
To be successful in your application for this Mechanical Design Engineer role you will need:
- Proven experience designing machinery for a medium to heavy industry environment
- Skilled in producing 3D models on any CAD software, with a strong preference for Autodesk Inventor
- Excellent communications skills for communicating with various levels, from operators to customers
- Ability to move between projects depending on business needs
- Desire to utilise your knowledge and experience to develop the team and business
