Job Role: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Metalis are working with a market leader in the heavy engineering sector, delivering solutions across multiple industries. With a strong commitment to safety, innovation, and operational excellence, they are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their dynamic maintenance team.
The Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of heavy machinery and plant equipment. You'll be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical maintenance on heavy industrial equipment
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to minimize downtime.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Support installation and commissioning of new machinery.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to improve equipment performance.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and adhere to health & safety standards.
Key Skills & Experience
- Time-served Mechanical Engineer (NVQ Level 3 / HNC / Apprenticeship or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a heavy engineering or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, and rotating equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
- Experience with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems).
- IOSH/NEBOSH or other safety qualifications.
