Metalis are working with a market leader in the heavy engineering sector, delivering solutions across multiple industries. With a strong commitment to safety, innovation, and operational excellence, they are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their dynamic maintenance team.

The Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of heavy machinery and plant equipment. You'll be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical maintenance on heavy industrial equipment
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new machinery.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to improve equipment performance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and adhere to health & safety standards.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Time-served Mechanical Engineer (NVQ Level 3 / HNC / Apprenticeship or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a heavy engineering or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, and rotating equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems).
  • IOSH/NEBOSH or other safety qualifications.
