Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working on behalf of a bespoke manufacturer in Sheffield to recruit a Mechanical Fitter.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical assembly and machine builds from engineering drawings
  • Small-batch production: fitting, building, and final assembly
  • Prototype builds for new product development
  • Support build readiness: design for manufacture, build processes, quality, and safety
  • Inspect and control build quality – ensuring dimensions and characteristics are correct
  • Record manufacturing knowledge and support continuous improvement activities
  • Assist with Stores functions – control of incoming materials and production orders
  • Maintain accurate records: route cards and timesheets
  • Carry out general maintenance tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient workshop

Requirements:

  • Excellent hands-on mechanical fitting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical instructions
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • IT literate – confident with MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)
  • Manual machining skills are desirable but not essential
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Qualifications & Experience:

  • BTEC Level 3 or equivalent in a mechanical discipline
  • Experience in prototyping and small-batch manufacturing
  • Background in electrical or rotating machinery is advantageous
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing is desirable
  • Knowledge of winding, impregnation, or assembly of high-strength magnets is a plus
