Our client, a well-established and forward-thinking manufacturing organisation, is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead day-to-day operations and drive a culture of excellence across the production floor. This is a key leadership appointment for someone who can combine strong people management with a proven ability to implement and sustain continuous improvement strategies.
This role would suit an influential and hands-on leader with a track record of delivering operational performance improvements through coaching, engagement, and structured change initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strong, visible leadership to production teams, ensuring clear expectations, accountability, and engagement.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a multi-skilled workforce, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Manage staffing levels, performance reviews, training, and succession planning.
- Promote a collaborative working environment, resolving conflict and supporting team wellbeing.
- Oversee daily production activities to ensure targets for safety, quality, cost, and delivery are consistently met.
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety regulations and industry standards.
- Monitor KPIs and operational metrics, taking proactive action to address variances.
- Collaborate with planning, quality, maintenance, and logistics teams to maintain smooth operations.
- Drive and embed continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, or similar methodologies.
- Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, developing solutions that improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Lead CI workshops, employee engagement sessions, and structured problem-solving activities.
- Implement standardised work processes and ensure documentation is maintained.
- Support audits and compliance reviews, ensuring corrective actions are successfully implemented.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Production Manager or in a similar leadership role within manufacturing or production.
- Strong man management capability with a track record of building, motivating, and developing high-performing teams.
- Demonstrable experience leading continuous improvement programmes, with measurable results.
- Solid understanding of Lean principles, workflow optimisation, and waste reduction.
- Confident decision-maker with excellent communication, influencing, and coaching skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
