GSL Education are currently seeking an innovative and dynamic Art Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Sheffield from September 2025. This is a full-time opportunity with the potential to transition to a permanent role.

As an Art Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a creative curriculum that encourages self-expression, experimentation, and cultural appreciation. You will help students develop their artistic skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art, while also building their understanding of art history and design principles.

Teacher of Art Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and imaginative Art lessons for Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
  • Teach a range of art disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital media
  • Encourage student exploration of various artistic styles, media, and historical contexts
  • Inspire creativity and confidence through practical and theoretical art instruction
  • Prepare students for GCSE Art examinations, providing feedback and portfolio guidance
  • Create a classroom environment that promotes artistic curiosity and celebrates diversity
  • Display and celebrate student work across the school to foster pride and motivation
  • Use assessment to monitor progress and adapt lessons to meet student needs
  • Uphold high standards of behaviour, engagement, and respect in the classroom
  • Participate in art events, exhibitions, and extracurricular opportunities to enhance students’ artistic development

What we need from an Art Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Degree in Fine Art, Design, Art Education, or a related field
  • Experience teaching Art in a secondary school setting (KS3, KS4 and KS5)
  • Strong portfolio of your own work and experience showcasing student achievement
  • A genuine passion for art and commitment to creative education
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the Art curriculum and assessment frameworks
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
