Academics is proud to be working with a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in North East Sheffield to recruit a Subject Leader of Religious Education for a permanent role starting on 1st September 2025.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Religious Education teacher or current Subject Leader of Religious Education who is passionate about developing an engaging and inclusive curriculum. You'll lead a committed team within the Humanities faculty and have a real impact on students' understanding of diverse worldviews, moral development, and critical thinking.

Role Responsibilities:

As the Subject Leader of Religious Education, you will:

  • Lead the delivery of RE across KS3 and KS4, shaping schemes of work and lesson planning
  • Support and guide RE staff, ensuring high-quality teaching and consistency across the department
  • Drive student progress and attainment through effective curriculum design and assessment strategies
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Humanities to enrich cross-curricular learning opportunities
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive learning environment aligned with the school's values

Person Specification:

We are looking for a Subject Leader of Religious Education who:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent and has a strong background in RE teaching
  • Has experience leading a department or is ready to step into a subject leadership role
  • Is passionate about Religious Education and fostering curiosity in students
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organisation, and team leadership skills
  • Is committed to ongoing education and training, including CPD and leadership development
  • Has (or is willing to obtain) a valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
