Key Responsibilities of a Secondary Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to ensure students remain engaged and on track.

  • Help manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Encourage student participation, independence, and confidence.
  • Supervise students during breaks, lunchtimes, and school activities.

Requirements for a Secondary Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with secondary school-aged students (in school settings, tutoring, or youth work).
  • Understanding of SEN, Autism, ADHD, and behavioural needs is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
