Magento Developer Sheffield Hybrid/On-site Up to £55,000 DOE

My client, a growing digital commerce agency based in Sheffield, is looking for a talented Magento Developer with strong backend experience to join their dynamic dev team. If you enjoy building custom ecommerce solutions, integrating complex systems, and collaborating in a supportive tech environment, this could be the role for you.

The Role

Youll be responsible for delivering tailored features and functionality across a variety of ecommerce projects. Key duties include:

  • Developing and maintaining bespoke Magento functionality (both frontend and backend).

  • Working with the development team to ensure new code aligns with the Magento framework and delivers great performance.

  • Reviewing code, pull requests, and supporting peer development.

  • Managing tasks across multiple client projects and support boards.

  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues from support channels.

  • Integrating APIs for backend services such as ERP and warehouse systems.

  • Supporting team leads with improving development workflows and mentoring junior developers.

  • Contributing to technical documentation and recommending new tools and approaches.

  • Staying up to date with ecommerce trends and technologies.

The Ideal Candidate
  • 4+ years of Magento development experience (Magento 2, Adobe Commerce & Open Source).

  • Previous agency experience is highly desirable.

  • Proficient in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML.

  • Skilled with local dev tools like Docker and Composer.

  • Experience using PHPUnit and similar test frameworks.

  • Familiar with Git, Jira, Bitbucket, and agile processes.

  • Exposure to Hyv themes, Tailwind CSS, and Alpine.js is a bonus.

  • Solid problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.

  • Understanding of responsive design, performance optimisation, and cross-browser/device compatibility.
