The business has recently gone through a period of investment and growth, with continued development and capital projects planned.
This role offers a clear pathway to grow into a Multi-Site Engineering Manager position, but it's essential that the successful candidate is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and providing practical, hands-on support when needed.
Position Overview
As Maintenance Manager, you will lead and develop the site's engineering team, overseeing planned and reactive maintenance, driving continuous improvement, and delivering capital projects. You'll be a key figure in improving plant performance, minimising downtime, and supporting safe, efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a hands-on presence, providing support with breakdowns, fault-finding, and critical maintenance when required.
- Oversee the site's PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) programme to maximise equipment reliability and uptime.
- Drive and deliver improvement projects, process optimisation, and capital works across the facility.
- Monitor and report on departmental KPIs, including OEE, downtime, and safety performance.
- Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections, including gas, steam, and pipework systems.
- Collaborate closely with Production and senior leadership teams to ensure engineering alignment with operational goals.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, supporting training and development across the team.
Key Requirements
- Recognised engineering qualification - mechanical or electrical.
- Proven experience in a similar role - Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, or Senior/Lead Engineer in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Confident in both strategic planning and hands-on technical work.
- Background in manufacturing, heavy industry, or building products is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
- Strong awareness of safety regulations and best practices in maintenance.
Salary and Benefits Package
The role offers a competitive basic salary of 40,000 to 60,000, depending on experience, along with a performance-based bonus. You'll be joining a secure and supportive work environment within a family-owned business that operates on a global scale. There is a clear progression route towards a Multi-Site Engineering Manager position, as well as the opportunity to be actively involved in ongoing improvement projects and continued site investment. This is a key role where you will have the chance to shape and influence the future direction of the engineering function.
If you are a hands-on Maintenance Manager or a senior engineer ready for the next step - and you're not afraid to roll your sleeves up - this is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact.
