Senior Finance Assistant / AccountantLocation: SherborneSalary: £30,000 – £32,000 per annum
Overview:Our client supports a portfolio of financial and property-related interests are seeking a Senior Finance Assistant / Accountant. This is a varied and hands-on role, ideal for someone with strong bookkeeping and reporting experience who enjoys working in a small, collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers
- Perform bookkeeping and ensure correct VAT treatment
- Manage payment runs and bank reconciliations
- Prepare and submit VAT returns
- Maintain fixed asset registers and control accounts
- Support credit control when required
- Produce management accounts and year-end audit files
- Generate financial reports including budget comparisons and forecasts
- Assist with ad hoc financial projects
- Provide cover for colleagues during absences
- Report to senior team members
Candidate Profile:
- Part-qualified, newly qualified, or qualified by experience within a practice environment (minimum 5 years)
- Strong understanding of VAT and financial reporting
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Discreet and professional with confidential information
- Excellent communication and administrative skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software
- Flexible, proactive, and a team player
