Our client, DENSO Marston Ltd, is seeking a degree level Mechanical Test Engineer to join their cutting-edge team and help deliver the next generation of thermal technology. You'll be partof a dynamic test department providing mechanical testing services to engineering and quality teams. This is a varied role involving practical and theoretical engineering, using disciplines like mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and instrumentation. Key Responsibilities
  • To implement tests to the criteria laid down in the relevant specifications to allow validation of the companys products.
  • To develop new or modify current tests and rigs to meet changing customer requirements
  • Ensure the integrity and quality of tests conducted (IATF16949).
  • To compile test reports, pass judgment on the test results obtained and approve test reports compiled by Test Technicians
  • To assist/advise other departments in the choice of suitable tests where unspecified.
  • Product investigation testing: Prepare heat exchangers (strain gauges, accelerometers, pressure transducers, thermocouples etc.) then acquire & analyse data via various DAQ systems for discussion with customers.
  • Work with suppliers on the specification & acquisition of new capital equipment.
  • Organise external maintenance work when required and liaise with contractors.
  • Mentoring test technicians.
  • To ensure that equipment is maintained and calibrated to the necessary standards.
Qualifications & Skills
  • A practical aptitude with a good knowledge of general engineering skills & abilities. e.g. capable workshop and fabrication skills.
  • Test rig problem solving capability (mechanical, electronic, software, control systems etc.)
  • Test set up, product instrumentation, data acquisition & analysis.
  • Good communication skills along with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • A full driving license.
  • Degree in Engineering or Science discipline or alternatively a HND in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification is a minimum requirement.
  • Fatigue analysis (nCode).
  • Capability in strain gauging, vibration analysis, measurement transducers and LabVIEW programming.
  • Project management experience (new equipment)
  • Experience in automotive or heat exchanger environments preferred
  • Knowledge of thermal performance testing or vehicle instrumentation is a bonus
